Diamond Sutra (Vajracchedikā Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra)

The Diamond Sutra is a dialogue between the Buddha and his disciple Subhūti on the emptiness of all phenomena. Its central teaching is non-attachment: a bodhisattva gives, acts and liberates beings while never grasping at any self, person, living being or life span. It is famous for the closing verse "all conditioned things are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow, like dew and like lightning — thus should you observe them."

Text ·
