Kṣitigarbha Sutra (Earth Store Bodhisattva)

地藏菩萨本愿经

The Kṣitigarbha Sutra tells the great vow of Earth Store Bodhisattva, who promised never to become a Buddha until the hells are emptied and all beings are delivered. It teaches filial devotion, the dedication of merit to the deceased, and the power of one sincere vow. It is recited especially for the benefit of departed family members.
