Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch
ε η₯εη»
The Platform Sutra records the life and teaching of Huineng, the Sixth Patriarch of Chan (Zen). It is unique in being the only Chinese work honored with the title of sutra. Its teaching is that buddha-nature is present in every being from the start, that awakening is sudden and not dependent on gradual stages, and that the mind's original nature is inherently pure.
