Six-Syllable Mantra (Om Mani Padme Hum)
六字大明咒
Om Mani Padme Hum is the most widely recited mantra in Tibetan Buddhism and the mantra of Avalokiteśvara, the bodhisattva of compassion. Its six syllables are said to contain the essence of the entire path and to purify the six realms of existence. It is carved on stones, spun on prayer wheels and repeated countless times each day by millions of people.
